Live Heart Healthy. Live Well & Live Long

Give Thanks for Your Heart Health

by | Nov 27, 2013

You haven’t heard from me in a while because I’ve been busy finishing my new book Salt: Black America’s Silent Killer. I hadn’t planned to write an entire book on this topic, but the more I researched, the more appalled I became. Not only are Black Americans are two to six times more likely to suffer salt-related diseases than White Americans, those health challenges hit two to six times more severely at far younger ages. My hope is that by explaining the scientific research in simple ways that people can relate to, more and more individuals will choose to put down the salt shaker.

Salt: Black America’s Silent Killer will be published in February 2014 which is both Black History Month and American Heart Month. I can’t imagine more auspicious timing and sincerely hope that the media will help us spread this life-saving message. In the meantime, check out the Salt: Black America’s Silent Killer book trailer. I hope you love it as much as I do, and that you share it online with everyone you know.

The team I’ve assembled to help me promote heart health around the country—and indeed the world—has also retooled my Health Now Books website. In addition to my blog and information about the new book, you’ll find videos and book trailers, as well as a listing of companies who have chosen to partner with us. Take a look. Please note that you’ll find contact information on the website should you wish to join the cause.

Finally, check out my Facebook page for salt-free recipes, health news and more. Please Like us if you like what you see.

During this holiday season, let’s give thanks for whatever good health we might have and do whatever we can to maintain or improve that. This means reducing the salt we add to our food and to the feasts we prepare for our loved ones.

Happy Thanksgiving from me and mine to you and yours.
